I have been searching for words to try describe Kelly and Tyrone’s elopement in the middle of the Tsitsikamma forest, but everything I put together really doesn’t seem to do justice to the morning. I vividly remember waiting in the forest for their families to arrive and suddenly getting goosebumps as they appeared at the end of the pathway. It was drizzling lightly and the forest was completely silent. It was the silence that heightened the emotions of the morning and made everything feel different. We are all so used to busy wedding days filled with bustle and noise, laughing bridesmaids, rowdy groomsmen, music and festivities. But in those moments, in that silence, you could actually feel the nervous energy. Kelly and Tyrone’s elopement was so personal, so unorthodox… so incredibly special.
These two love each other so deeply, so passionately. They stripped back all the ‘wedding’ layers to craft something that was everything they needed and more – simply being able to promise forever to each other in front of their closest family members.
Rebecca from Runaway Romance did such an amazing job in putting everything together on the morning, and I still feel incredibly lucky to have been a part of this intimate garden route elopement – more than just photographing it. It completely changed the way I look at weddings and what they can be if you just have the courage to swim against the tide. We all have different ideas of the perfect wedding, and I can say with 100% certainty, this was simply perfect for Mr and Mrs Davies!
